Father Michael Joncas to present study of Advent, Christmastide Scriptures and musical settings

Theologian and composer Father Michael Joncas will present “Within Our Hearts Be Born: An Opportunity to Deepen your Experience and Appreciation for the Church’s Liturgy in Advent and Christmastide” Nov. 2, hosted by the Spirituality Center of St. Benedict’s Monastery, St. Joseph.

The morning session, from 9-11:15 a.m., includes an in-depth exploration of the structure and themes of the Advent Sunday Scriptures for Year A and an opportunity to learn musical settings appropriate for these celebrations.

From 1-3 p.m. the focus will be on the Sundays and Solemnities of Christmastide.

The event is free of charge, due to the generosity of donors, but there will be an opportunity to contribute to a free will offering. Lunch is $8 for those who wish to eat at the monastery. It will be held on the first floor of Rosamond building.
