Bishop Donald Kettler celebrated the Rite of Election at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud with 23 catechumens and the Call to Continuing Conversion with 66 candidates from across the diocese March 9.

Catechumens are those who were unbaptized prior to their preparation for entry into full communion with the Catholic Church. Candidates are already baptized.

As part of the Rite of Election, catechumens entered their names in the Book of the Elect. They then became the elect and will be fully initiated into the church at Easter Vigil services across the diocese. The candidates were recognized by the bishop and will enter into full communion with the Catholic Church at Easter or another appropriate time.
