Bishop Donald Kettler will preside at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Silver Rose Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. May 28 at St. Mary’s Cathedral.

Each year, a silver rose honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe is carried by Knights of Columbus from Canada, through the U.S. and into Mexico to arrive at the basilica in Monterrey, Mexico, on Dec. 12, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

All are welcome to this prayerful tribute, hosted by The Knights of Columbus Council 961.

The Our Lady of Guadalupe Silver Rose program began in 1960 as a project of the Knights of Columbus Columbian Squires of North America to honor the Blessed Virgin under her title of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas.

The program has continued since then as a project in several KC jurisdictions to honor her and reaffirm a commitment to the sanctity of human life.

This year four silver roses will travel from Canada to Mexico.
