Sister Kerry O’Reilly

Sister Kerry O’Reilly, a member of the Sisters of the Order of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, has been elected president of the Federation of St. Benedict.

Her term of office began with her election July 20 and will continue through 2021.

Each Benedictine house is autonomous with its own leadership, Sister Kerry said. Monasteries in the United States belong to federations, formed so member monasteries can work together on issues of mutual interest, support or future planning.

The Federation of St. Benedict is comprised of sister houses which are mostly in Minnesota; it also includes monasteries in Japan, Taiwan, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas.

The leadership team meets several times a year while the group as a whole meets once every three years.
